Brad Russell Ministries

worship from the heart

Biographical Information

From the moment Brad Russell began singing he knew he had found his purpose. Over the years that purpose has taken him to many places to fill many roles, but he has always held a sincere desire within his heart to use his gifts for the glory of God.

Brad grew up in a musical home where Christ was the center of everything. He cut his teeth on southern gospel music sung by the legends of the genre, but his biggest musical influence was a little kown singer and pastor from North Little Rock, Arkansas named Florence Hardcastle. She was also Brad's grandmother. She sang of heaven, God's grace, and the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit. It was in the atmosphere created by this woman of faith and the rest of his family that Brad's faith in God and love for music were forged.

Brad began leading worship in his youth group, learning to worship God sincerely, and inspiring others to do the same. It was in college that his love for music grew into a pursuit. As he met other budding musicians he began writing songs, recording demos, performing in concerts, and producing custom projects. In 1991 he began serving has worship leader for a local church, and his ministry as a worship leader was born.

Since that time God would take Brad and his wife Sonya on an incredible journey where they would learn to depend upon Him. They ministered in many of the great churches of the U.S. with Evangelist Rich Wilkerson, helped launch Christian Life Church in Birmingham, Alabama, while maintaining a career as an indepent recording artist and song writer. His songs have topped the Christian music and mainstream radio charts. He has cowritten songs with well known music industry professionals, an American Idol finalist, and many budding songwriters.

Throughout this journey Brad has maintained his focus upon the ministry of the local church, serving as worship leader in three thriving churches and even pastoring for a season. No matter where the road has taken him he has remembered that, ultimately, his life was fashioned to touch the lives of real people. Wherever the road may lead he maintains his focus upon his calling to advance God's kingdom and not his own.
